Today's venting topic is volleyball.
It stinks. Why I do it is a mystery to even myself. No matter how hard I try, that stupid, little, lazy kid who's a grade below constantly gets put before me. Does she have skill? Heck no! Just ask my blogging partner, who shared a similar experience with this girl during softball season.
To coaches, seniority means crap. They will gladly sit a capable senior in favor of a awful junior who did not earn their spot. I'm offended.
I need to stop before I say something truly offensive.
Small town sports suck.
I can agree with this statement. I often find that sports in the town you speak of are not well organized and are often future orientated. Meaning they train and favor the incapable 7th and 8th graders by putting them on varsity in the hopes that they will be the powerhouses of Minnesota, but in the end you just end up depriving the athletes who have been training diligently for almost a decade and are usually just overlooked at the end of the day no matter what kind of effort or overtime is applied in their high school sport careers. What's worse is that when its all said and done these are the students who work hard in school and balance sports along with other noteworthy extra curricular activities to get an outstanding collegiate education with good scholarships. But will these exceptional students we mention ever get the spotlight or even recognition they deserve? No. The coaches are unreasonable and go out of their way to make themselves unapproachable. Leaving seniors banking on a small sports scholarship sold out of luck.... nay, opportunity to be scouted and discovered. Which will inevitably mean more bank loans and out of pocket money to get an post-secondary education. This all adds up to debt and stress. In the end my message is high school sports may be fun but the coaches will ruin your lives.
ReplyDeleteAMEN, Sista! You speak the truth! (that was my interpretation of an enthusiastic ethnic woman. No one reads this, so I figure it doesn't matter if I say that)
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't. The sad truth. How do you even get people to read a blog? I suppose we could use facebook or something to direct traffic, but that would involve work and sacrificing anonymity.
